What is Peat Moss?
Baltic Peat Moss is a natural and unique material which remains the most important basic substance for use in growing media. Ideal for propagation and finish production of crops. It does not contain harmful microorganisms or weed seeds unlike poorly processed compost. It is ideal for planting fruits and vegetables that are acid loving such as strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes and revitalising garden lawns.
Benefits
Cost effective as it does not break down easily
Highly absorbent, creating fertile soil and speeding up plant growth
Perfect for propagation and crops
What is Coco Coir?
Coco coir is a byproduct of coconut fiber. It is an organic and environmentally sustainable substrate made using fibre from coconut shells. The tiny grains of coir are extracted from the coconut shell and pulverized into a growing substrate.
Benefits
Perfect hydroponic growing medium as it can hold its own weight in water
Good for beginners as it has plenty of buffer against over or under-watering conditions and temperature variance
Antifungal and protect plants from dreaded root diseases such as pythium and phytophthora.
Combined Benefits
Moisture retention
Highly absorbent material and retain water much better than other types of growing medium. Addition of coco coir prevents stagnation and compaction. Great for seed starting, propagation and crop production
Sterile medium
Ideal for healthy plants and speeding up growth as it does not contain any harmful chemicals, weed seeds and other bad stuff. Perfect as a starting medium for young and vulnerable plants which are susceptible to the surrounding environment.
Acidic pH features
Slightly acidic, which is great for acid-loving plants, fruits and vegetables. Some examples are camellias, strawberries, blueberries, pieris, heathers, azaleas and tomatoes. Keeps plants happy and speeds up growth
Compaction prevention
Compaction reduces water absorption and stagnate plant growth. Peat moss and coco coir easily rehydrates and keeps the growing medium healthy and can prevent soil compaction longer
Soil conditioning
Coco Coir and Peat Moss softens any soil or medium structure and improves the drainage, keeping the growing medium conditioned
