Coco coir Washed – Ready to use is a premium grade of coco coir. Coco Coir also known as coco peat or coconut fiber, is a popular growing medium made from the fibrous husk of coconuts. Coco Coir is a perfect hydroponic growing medium as it can hold its own weight in water and even while fully saturated holds 22% oxygen which is the best of it’s kind even beating the highly expensive rockwool (about 10% air holding capacity). Good for beginners as it has plenty of buffer against over or under-watering conditions and temperature variance. Antifungal and protect plants from dreaded root diseases such as pythium and phytophthora.
Coco coir has high water holding capacity, allowing it to retain moisture for extended periods. It absorbs water easily and releases it slowly, providing a consistent source of moisture to plant roots. This helps prevent both overwatering and underwatering, promoting optimal plant hydration
Despite its water retention ability, coco coir also provides good drainage. It allows excess water to drain away, preventing waterlogging and ensuring proper aeration of the root zone. The balanced moisture retention and drainage of coco coir create an ideal growing environment for plants.
Coco coir has a fibrous and porous structure that promotes excellent airflow and aeration within the growing medium. This allows for adequate oxygen supply to the roots, supporting their healthy development and overall plant growth. Improved aeration helps prevent root suffocation and enhances nutrient uptake.
Coco coir is naturally pH neutral, meaning it has a near-neutral pH level. This makes it suitable for a wide range of plants and allows for easy adjustment of pH based on specific plant requirements. It provides a stable and balanced pH environment for healthy root growth and nutrient absorption.
Coco coir has a high cation exchange capacity (CEC), which means it has the ability to attract, retain, and release nutrients to plant roots. It can hold and release essential nutrients, promoting optimal nutrient availability for plants. Coco coir acts as a buffer, preventing nutrient leaching and ensuring efficient nutrient uptake.
Coco coir is naturally resistant to diseases, pests, and weed seeds. Its sterile nature reduces the risk of soil-borne pathogens and harmful organisms. This can help create a healthier growing environment for plants and reduce the need for chemical interventions.
Coco coir is a renewable and sustainable resource. It is a byproduct of the coconut industry, utilizing the waste material from coconut husks. Using coco coir as a growing medium reduces the environmental impact associated with traditional soil extraction. It is also biodegradable and can be recycled or composted after use.
Coco coir is lightweight and easy to handle, making it convenient for gardening applications. It can be easily mixed with other growing media or used alone in containers, hanging baskets, or raised beds. Its light texture reduces the overall weight of potted plants, making them easier to move or transport.
Coco coir is suitable for various gardening applications. It can be used as a standalone growing medium or blended with other components like perlite or vermiculite. It is commonly used for seed starting, container gardening, hydroponics, and as an amendment for improving soil structure.
Coco coir has a long lifespan and resists decomposition, allowing it to provide consistent performance and retain its structure over time. This means coco coir can be reused for multiple growing cycles, making it cost-effective
